Got the latest "Upcoming Shows" email from 1% today. Here are the highlights:

Tuesday, February 2nd @ Slowdown - Umphrey's McGee
Monday, February 8th @ Slowdown - North Mississippi Allstars
Monday, February 8th @ The Waiting Room - Dr. Dog
Wednesday, March 31st @ Slowdown - Bassnectar
Sunday, April 18th @ Slowdown Ani DiFranco
Sunday, April 25th @ The Waiting Room - Yeasayer

Looks like the North Mississippi Allstars and Dr. Dog shows are on the same night. Now I enjoy the Beatles as much as the next guy, but I think I'm going to have to go with the NMA on this one.

I'm guessing Yeasayer got your attention. Hopefully their show won't suck as bad as their latest album. Seriously, what the fuck is the story behind "Ambling Alp"?

Finally, Ani is coming at the end of April. Who knows, if you play your cards right maybe you could be the next dude to frantically drive her to Planned Parenthood.

"Boom. Roasted." - Michael Scott

Yo La Tengo Headcount

The concert is October 9th, so you should decide soon in case it sells out. That is a Friday for all you squares and/or out-of-towners, so I don't want to hear any excuses. I will be buying tickets within the next week, so let me know if I should get one for you. Check out "Here to Fall" (again, loud as fuck) on the new and improved Grooveshark playlist if you need any additional convincing. Tick tock muthafucka.

Bon Iver Concert Headcount

As you know, I purchased a few extra tickets to this now sold out show. Below is the list of people that I know want a ticket. Let me know if you or a companion would like to be added to/removed from the list so I can hock the rest at an unreasonable price. After fees and shipping the tix were about $20 each.

Paul
Jim
Scott
Jason

Still waiting on confirmation from the Brothers O'Connor, Mrs. Turner, Eric (probably not, right?) and our other acquaintances. Let me know within the next week or two.

Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King

It's been at least 8 years since I've been able to say this. Have you checked out the new Dave Matthews album? Fuckin' should. It's summer, for Christ's sakes.

Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King.  I don't know what it means.  What I do know is that the album pulls on the same strings that the old Under the Table, Crash and Streets albums did in the wayback days of yore. Back when Birks came close to trendy and I carried a Discman around, carefully (mind the skips). It starts off fun, with an instrumental intro strait to "Shake Me Like A Monkey." It's jazzy, it's funky, it's Band-y. And then there's the single. Here, I found this fun video on YouTube. Great music plus Looney Tunes imagery. Worked before. Let it work here.

I'm going to the concert this summer.  First time in maybe a decade. It should be epic. More comments to come.

By the by, I think it's cool that I've seen most if not all of the Looney Tunes episodes featured in the video above. Just sayin'.

St. Vincent

Tomorrow. Slowdown, front room. Check it out HERE. Anyone interested in going?

Xavier Rudd @ the slowdown. August 12th ;)

Hayes Carll- The Waiting Room 6/3/09

Nothin like some toe- tappin' country porch music. Riding in on the trails blazed by bands like Son Volt, this should be a beer drinkin' good time. I'm gonna go, anyone else interested?
