For the Hard Headed that don't know the definition of words

If you still can't see the irony in this, I'm afraid there's no hope for you. Anyone else have thoughts? Am I the only one around here that gives a shit about the rules? You think I'm fuckin' around MARK IT ZERO!

  1. Traffic jam when you're already late
A no smoking sign on your cigarette break
A black fly in your chardonay
A death row pardon two minutes too late
And isn't it ironic? Don't you think?
It's like rain on your wedding day
It's a free ride when you've already paid
It's the good advice that you just didn't take
And who would have thought? It figures . . .

  2. Once again, as written before the irony lies in this: Doctors (trained professionals, lots of experience) could not find the disease, while an 18 year old high school student (not a professional, no experience) had to diagnose this medical issue. THAT'S THE IRONY!!! PLEASE, OTHER SHANTY MEMBERS, VOICE YOUR OPINION ON THIS. I'm worried about Mander- he's missing it, and I'm obviously not doing a good job of explaining why this is ironic. AND YES, I KNOW WHAT THE FUCK IRONY IS. AND I KNOW THAT STUPID SONG HAS NO ELEMENTS OF IRONY DESCRIBED IN IT. READ THE DEFINITION OF THE WORD FOR THE THIRD FUCKING TIME.

  3. I checked the definition the first time. If the girl had diagnosed the DOCTOR with the illness, rather than herself, I might see the irony in this. Just because the girl had a shitty doctor doesn't make it ironic. Health care professionals overlook warning signs all the time. It appears to be a combination of medical malpractice and a surprisingly practical and well-timed high school biology curriculum rather than irony.

P.S. Don't you have a degree in english?

  4. Here is another scenario that is not ironic:

Jason McSherry (A possessor of an english degree from a reputable university, lifetime english speaker) didn't know the definition of irony, while a 25 year old environmental scientist (not an english major, not a linguist) had to explain what it is.

It's puzzling, yes, and funny, even a little troubling when you consider that we all went to the same school, but not ironic. Next time you call someone a hard-headed retard you should make sure you know what the fuck you're talking about. I will now sit back and let the rest of you agree with me.

  5. I will agree with Matt on this. After consulting an M.D. yesterday about this particular case I was informed that Crohns Disease manifests itself in many different varieties and therefore is very difficult to diagnose. So, technically this is not ironic, just the sad reality. Personally, I can sympathize with her. According to the M.D. it is not surprising that many pathologist/doctors were unable to see the granuloma.

  6. under further review, i understand that this is not another example of the oil tanker saving the environmental boat- but i do believe there are degrees of irony and glimpses can be found in this article. i suppose i'll just stick to music suggestions from now on. i'm sorry for calling you a mandertard manderselb.

  7. Under even further review, if this disease is so elusive, it is ironic that a high school student would be the one to diagnose it, while experts are unable to... Just a thought. So, looks like I might win the argument after all...

  8. Under further review, that's still not inronic.

For the hard-headed that don't know the definition of words:

Old man was afraid to fly,
Packed his suitcase, kissed his kids goodbye,
He waited his whole damn life to take that flight,
And as the plane crashed down
he thought, "Well isn't this nice."

  10. by the way, in case you didn't know matt, that song doesn't have anything ironic in it. sense i have an example of irony here, it doesn't apply. apples and oranges.
